Matt Henry Will Not Play in the ICC Cricket World Cup; Kyle Jamieson Will Take His Place

Due to a ruptured right hamstring, Matt Henry of New Zealand is out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Kyle Jamieson, an all-rounder who traveled in from New Zealand, has been designated as Henry’s substitute in the team.

“Matt has long been an important member of our One Day team, so it is very painful to see him eliminated as the competition draws to a close. In Bengaluru, coach Gary Stead said, “We’re gutted for him.”<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-265185″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-an-employee-who-was-fired-by-amazon-in-january-is-offered-a-job-again-but-he-decli.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com an employee who was fired by amazon in january is offered a job again but he decli” width=”1412″ height=”791″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-an-employee-who-was-fired-by-amazon-in-january-is-offered-a-job-again-but-he-decli.jpg 300w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-an-employee-who-was-fired-by-amazon-in-january-is-offered-a-job-again-but-he-decli-150×84.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1412px) 100vw, 1412px” title=”Matt Henry Will Not Play in the ICC Cricket World Cup; Kyle Jamieson Will Take His Place 3″>

A New Zealand Cricket announcement said, “Henry suffered the injury during Wednesday’s match against South Africa in Pune. An MRI scan confirmed he has a grade two lower tear which will require at least two to four weeks to recover from.”

His quality and abilities are shown by the fact that during the last several years, he has often been ranked among the top 10 ODI bowlers by the ICC. We’re all going to miss Matt’s charisma and expertise, and he’s a wonderful team player,” Stead said.

Jamieson was scheduled to workout with the squad on Friday after arriving in Bengaluru late on Thursday. The 28-year-old, who had back surgery in February and had previously spent time with the team in India as a training substitute earlier in the competition, has had quite the voyage.

Stead said that Jamieson was prepared to play if needed for Saturday’s match against Pakistan. He said, “We’re lucky to have a player in Kyle’s class waiting in the wings.”

He is always dangerous with the ball due to his talents and physical characteristics, and it’s a benefit that he was able to practice with us for the first two weeks of the competition. After overcoming two different back problems, Kyle had to put in a lot of effort to get well, and I know he’s thrilled to be playing in his first ODI World Cup.

With two league games remaining—against Pakistan on Saturday and Sri Lanka on Thursday, both in Bengaluru—New Zealand is now in fourth in the World Cup points standings.
