In early leads, Congress surpasses the halfway point in Karnataka

At eight in the morning today, the voting for the Karnataka assembly elections started. Early indications put the Congress marginally ahead of the BJP, which is in power.

Early results show that the Congress party has an early lead in 117 seats, surpassing the halfway point, while the BJP is in the lead in 83 seats. According to NDTV, JD(S) was in a distant third place with leads in 23 seats.

According to official sources, the counting started at 8 am at 36 locations around the state with extensive security measures in place, particularly in and near the counting locations to prevent any untoward occurrences. First to be tallied are postal ballots.

According to official data from the Indian Election Commission, the Congress Party is in the lead in 110 seats, followed by the BJP in 73 and the JD(S) in 25.

Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister of the state, Siddaramaiah, DK Shivakumar, and HD Kumaraswamy, the head of the JD(S), are all running for office from various seats.
