On the occasion of his passing, the Congress paid lavish homage to the late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. According to party leader Mallikarjun Kharge, India's first PM's contributions are essential to the development of the country in the twenty-first century.

Rahul Gandhi, a former party leader, and Kharge also went to Shanti Van to pay their respects to Nehru at his tomb. KC Venugopal and Pawan Bansal, two senior leaders, attended the memorial.

On social media, a number of party officials praised the steadfast Congress member.

Nehru, who was born in 1889, has served as prime minister of India the longest. Between August 1947 to May 1964, he served as prime minister. His demise occurred on May 27, 1964.

In a Hindi tweet, Kharge said that “Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's contribution to India in the 21st century cannot be imagined.”

The Congress president said that despite obstacles, his progressive ideals served as a courageous soldier of democracy who vigorously pushed India's social, political, and economic growth. “Hind ke Jawahar,” I humbly pay respect to you,” he remarked.

From its official Twitter account, the Congress also paid Nehru respect.

On the occasion of his passing, we pay tribute to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, our nation's first prime minister and the “Architect of Modern India.” A visionary who fostered the development of several industrial enterprises and economic initiatives, the party said.

“It was under him that India's brilliance amplified to an unprecedented level, from the 'Temples of Modern India,' including the IITs, IIMs, AIIMS, DRDO, and India's industrial wonders, to India's excursions into nuclear and space research. Today, we value Pandit Ji's legacy since he elevated India to the status of a major international power, according to the Congress.
