Actor Unni Mukundan's appeal to the Kerala High Court on Tuesday to have the FIR lodged against him in a case of alleged sexual assault dropped was denied.
The actor was accused of disrespecting a female screenplay writer's modesty in 2017, and the court let the lower court trial procedures against him to go through. Unni Mukundan's request for Justice K Babu to dismiss the charges against him was denied.
The lady refuted accusations that she consented to an out-of-court settlement, and the High Court then revoked the stay it had previously imposed on the actor's trial proceedings.
The court had said that it is a “very serious” concern if the stay order was obtained by filing a fake affidavit. Mukundan is being represented by Saiby Jose Kidangoor, who is being investigated for allegedly using bribes to resolve court matters.
