Team India will take the field in a new look against Australia in the final of the World Test Championship. The BCCI has made a big announcement that Adidas will be the new kit sponsor of the Indian team. The Indian Cricket Board has tied up with Adidas till the year 2028. Team India will be wearing the adidas three-stripe jersey for the first time in the WTC final.
The BCCI has informed about the kit sponsor agreement with Adidas on its Twitter handle. According to the Indian board, Team India’s contract with Adidas will run from June 2023 to March 2028. Adidas will now design the jersey, kit and other accessories of the Indian team. Along with the men’s team, the jerseys of India’s women’s and under-19 teams will also now have the adidas name on them. Adidas is counted among the most famous brands in the world.
Adidas has replaced Team India’s old kit sponsor Killer. Killer’s contract with BCCI was till the year 2023. Prior to Killer, the Indian team had an agreement with the MPL. The contract between MPL and the board was signed till December 2023, but MPL last year requested to transfer its rights to ‘Keval Kiran Clothing Limited’ (KKCL). Before the MPL, the responsibility of the Indian team’s kit sponsor was with the Nike company, whose agreement ended in the year 2020.
The Indian team will take to the ground in new jerseys with the adidas logo in the final match of the World Test Championship against Australia at The Oval. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Team India has reached the final of WTC for the second time in a row. Last time the team had to face defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the final.
