Due to technical issues with the signaling system, suburban train services were impacted in the Sealdah-Naihati and Naihati-Bandel sectors of the Eastern Railway on Monday morning, according to an official.
The signaling system's technical issues were discovered in Naihati in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district about 6 am, according to Kaushik Mitra, a spokesman for Eastern Railway, and were only partly rectified by 8:50 am.
Many officers who went to work on Monday were inconvenienced by the rail stoppage. The technical issues also impacted 20 EMU locals and seven long-distance trains, he said, adding that attempts were being made to fully restore the service.
