Ohsin Khan paid tribute to his father, who he disclosed was recently in the intensive care unit, in his match-winning effort. On Tuesday, May 16, at the Ekana Stadium, the Lucknow Super Giants rolled to a five-run win thanks to the pacer for LSG's defense of 11 runs from the last over against Tim David and Cameron Green, both of whom were in fine form.
In his post-game interview, Mohsin stated that his father had been in the intensive care unit for the previous ten days. He expressed his hope that his father had been watching the game as the young player assisted Lucknow in defeating Mumbai in yet another exciting encounter of the IPL 2023 season.
Undoubtedly, the 24-year-old was under pressure as Tim David seemed to have turned the tide in MI's favor when Naveen-ul-Haq gave up 19 runs in the last over of the game, but Mohsin maintained composure.
When asked about his strategy and mindset in the last over, Khan said that he was just attempting to put into practice what he had learned in the nets.
“The plan called for me to do exactly what I did in practice, and I did it. Even Krunal was chatting with me, and I confirmed this to him. The run-up has not changed from the previous over. I was attempting to remain composed, avoid checking the score, and bowl the six balls proficiently, said Mohsin.
The pacer said, “Since the wicket was gripping, I attempted the slower ball, but I delivered two of them before switching to the yorker and it was also reversing.
Mohsin also spoke about the previous year, including how his father had spent the previous ten days in the intensive care unit, how he had to have surgery after excelling for LSG last season, and how he sustained an injury.
Being injured and playing after a year was difficult. I did it for my father since he would have been watching; he was in the hospital for the previous 10 days and was just released from the intensive care unit, the man said.
The LSG pacer also expressed gratitude to the support crew for having faith in him despite the fact that he let up a lot of runs in the previous game.
“I'm grateful to the team and the support staff, Gautam (Gambhir) sir, and Vijay (Dahiya) sir for playing me this game even though I did not do well last game,” said Mohsin.
