According to Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh, India is prepared to take the lead in diabetes treatment that is driven by technology.
Singh, a well-known professor and diabetologist, spoke as the chief guest at the three-day World Congress of “Diabetes Technology and Therapeutics 2023” (DTechCon 2023) here. He said that the rest of the world looks up to India in the healthcare sector after the country's successful management of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to him, India is well ahead of most other nations in both technology and people resources.
The Union Minister said that because to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's personal promotion of scientific and technological advancements, India is quickly becoming a tech-savvy nation.
The Minister said that the PM has a natural aptitude for science and has collaborated closely with him for the previous nine years.
This, he claimed, is demonstrated by the fact that there were only about 350 start-ups before 2014, but that number has increased dramatically to over 90,000 with more than 100 unicorns since Prime Minister Modi issued a clarion call from the Red Fort's ramparts in his Independence Day address and introduced a special start-up programme in 2016.
The Minister said that India has some of the top start-ups in the world in the area of telemedicine.
The Minister said that India is becoming as a leader in both technology and medical tourism.
